When the weather starts changing and the leaves start turning different colors, out comes the sweaters and the new lip colors. Fall is not just a season of wardrobe changes, but the make-up bag should be getting an overhaul as well. Here are some great new items to purchase for the new season.
Fragrance
The change in seasons tends to evoke new emotions in people (think of the way pumpkin spice lattes and cinnamon apple scones make us feel), and fragrances do the same thing: they stir up different emotions. The chilly weather fall brings makes one want a warmer fragrance, and the new Gucci Guilty can do just that. This new fragrance captures the scent of sweet, crisp pears and the freshness of a bouquet of freesias. It’s described as the fragrance of the autumn air for $55 for a 1.0oz.
Lip Color
One item that is always good for a switch when the temperatures change is lipstick. While some associate the cooler weather with deeper, richer colors such as burgundy or a deep red, neutrals and shades of pink look just as pretty. Yves Saint Laurent has a new lipstick, Rouge Pur Couture, $30, which contains natural extracts to keep lips soft and hydrated. The elegant solid gold case, designed by Stefano Pilati, contains one of 18 new shades.
Eye Shadow
It is always fun to play with different eye shadow shades, as each one can drastically change one’s appearance. Fall is the perfect time to experiment with new colors, including shades of gold, browns, burgundies, and greens. Estee Lauder’s new Pure Color Eye shadows, $20, are a great option for eye color. These shadows go on effortlessly and true to color, and have good staying power.

Try Sizzling Copper for a good gold option, or Berry Burst for a burgundy – both enhance any eye color. Chanel also has a gorgeous new 4-color palette for fall, Les QuatreOmbres in Enigma. It contains different shades of browns and pinks for a perfect fall look at $56. Nail Polish
An easy and inexpensive way to change one’s look is with nail polish. And, nails need special attention once the weather starts to turn colder which leads to dry, cracked cuticles and more brittle nails. While there may be a color of the moment, nails can rock any shade during this time. NARS has a gorgeous new palette of nail polishes, from a deep, sage green to a metallic gold, for $16. Try adding a bit of glitz and glamour by adding a coat of a glittery polish on top, such as the gold “Boom Boom Pow” or the silver “Today Was a Fairytale,” both $18 by Lippmann.
